TREE FELLING & DISMANTLING
Tree felling is the process of cutting down a tree in a single controlled drop. Where a tree is situated close to buildings, structures, fences or other obstacles, straight felling may not be possible. In these cases we carry out sectional dismantling - carefully removing the tree in sections from the top down using specialist climbing equipment and rigging techniques to ensure complete control throughout.
Whether it is a small garden tree or a large mature specimen, we have the skills and equipment to remove it safely and efficiently.
DEADWOOD REMOVAL
Dead branches and limbs are a natural part of a tree's lifecycle, but left unmanaged they can become a serious safety hazard. As deadwood decays it becomes increasingly brittle and unpredictable, and can fall without warning - potentially causing damage to property or injury to people below.
Our team will identify and safely remove deadwood from your trees, improving both safety and the long term health of the tree.
COPPICING
Coppicing is one of the oldest methods of woodland and tree management in the UK. It involves cutting a tree back to near ground level, stimulating the growth of multiple new shoots from the stump or root system. The result is a renewable supply of timber and a tree that can live significantly longer than it would if left unmanaged.
We carry out coppicing for landowners, farmers and woodland managers across Wiltshire, working with a wide range of native species including hazel, ash, sweet chestnut and willow.
HEDGE MAINTENANCE
Well maintained hedges add structure, privacy and year round interest to gardens and properties. Our hedge cutting and maintenance service covers hedges of all sizes, from small garden boundaries to large established hedgerows.
As a general guide, informal hedges benefit from a single cut per year, while formal hedges typically require two cuts to maintain a clean, defined shape. We will advise on the best timing and approach for your specific hedge species and situation.

CROWN REDUCTION, THINNING & LIFTING
Crown management is one of the most common reasons homeowners and businesses call a tree surgeon. Our crown services cover three main techniques:
Crown Reduction involves reducing the overall height and spread of a tree's canopy while maintaining its natural shape. This is often needed where a tree has outgrown its surroundings or is causing shading issues.
Crown Thinning removes selected branches from within the canopy to improve light penetration and air circulation, reducing wind resistance and the risk of branch failure without changing the overall size of the tree.
Crown Lifting removes the lower branches of a tree to increase clearance above ground level, improving access, light levels and visibility beneath the canopy.
All crown work is carried out in accordance with British Standard 3998.
POLLARDING
Pollarding is a more intensive pruning method that involves removing all branches back to the main trunk or a framework of main branches. It is typically used to control the size of a tree that has outgrown its space, to manage trees near power lines or buildings, or to rejuvenate older trees whose canopy structure has become compromised.
Pollarding is best carried out on a regular cycle and is suitable for many common species including willows, limes, planes and some oaks. We will advise on whether pollarding is the right approach for your tree.
STUMP GRINDING
Once a tree has been felled, the stump left behind can be an eyesore, a trip hazard, and a source of regrowth if not properly dealt with. Stump grinding uses specialist machinery to grind the stump down below ground level, removing the root plate and preventing any re-shooting.
The resulting wood chip can be used as mulch in the garden or removed from site entirely - your choice. Stump grinding is the most efficient and cost effective method of stump removal and leaves the area ready for replanting, turfing or landscaping.
FRUIT TREE PRUNING
Fruit trees require careful and regular pruning to remain productive, healthy and well structured. Without management they can become overcrowded, reducing fruit yield and making harvesting difficult.
Our fruit tree pruning service covers the removal of diseased, damaged or crossing branches, thinning of the canopy to improve light and air circulation, removal of suckers and water sprouts, and shaping to maintain a manageable and productive tree. We work with apple, pear, plum, cherry and other common fruit tree varieties across Wiltshire.
